I’m speaking at the Italian Political Communication Association’s Annual Meeting this week

I’m travelling to Rome this week to give one of the keynotes at the Italian Political Communication Association’s Annual Conference. The conference is being held at LUISS.

My talk is entitled “Turning Celebrity Capital into Political Capital Using Social Media and Mainstream Media: the Case of Donald Trump.”

The talk is based on the new chapter in the second edition of The Hybrid Media System but will offer a somewhat different take from my recent talks on Trump in Spain and Estonia. I will explain how Trump’s position as an everyday celebrity helped him to office but also how this identity renders him open to contestation.

The conference website is here.

I’m looking forward to hearing Alec Charles’ keynote. Thanks to the local organizers, Sara Bentivegna and Michele Sorice, for inviting me.

Finally, OUP are currently offering a 30% discount on the second edition of the book. To claim the discount order from http://www.oup.com/academic and use code ASFLYQ6
